In comparative analysis, we thoroughly reviewed and evaluated four process mining tools: Apromore, PM4Py, Celonis, and ProM. By testing the tools, we assessed them based on several criteria such as accessibility, advanced capabilities, and ease of use, evaluating them from the perspective of an average user.
We found that the open-source tools ProM and PM4Py offer great flexibility and transparency, which is excellent for researchers and technical users. However, their use requires significant technical knowledge, which can pose a challenge for beginners. On the other hand, the commercial solutions Apromore and Celonis stand out due to their intuitive user interfaces, rich integration options, advanced analytical features, and the use of artificial intelligence, which simplifies the work for business users.
Ultimately, the choice of the best tool depends on organization's specific needs and the technical capabilities of the team. The field of process mining is also seeing numerous innovations, primarily towards greater tool accessibility and the integration of artificial intelligence, which will further help optimize business processes.
