Abstract

The domain of business process optimization is an important but insufficiently supported domain in Slovenian companies. In this paper, we addressed the topic of optimization and focused on the analysis of tools that support process optimization. The aim of the paper was to analyse and present various tools that provide users support in understanding and transforming processes, focused to find out which of the tools offer greatest support and what are the key differences between the tools. In addition, exploring the knowledge of analysed tools and their use in IT departments of Slovenian companies was also one of the goals. The results of the research have shown that the tools differ depending on the possibilities they offer and the notations they support. Research results suggest also that the knowledge and use of business process optimization tools in Slovenian companies is insufficient and that Slovenian companies rarely optimize business processes in a systematic way.
