Concepts and changes affecting the importance of digital transformation

Abstract

In recent years, digital transformation (DT) has become a common topic in various industries and business environments. It is highly important for companies to understand why DT is so popular and what actually changed because of DT. We argue that the euphoria surrounding DT is often used to attract the attention of top management. It is crucial, however, to use this increased attention for organizational change, taking into account the conceptual changes of recent years. The article provides guidelines on how organizations need to take these changes into account if they want to approach DT strategically and gain the enthusiasm required to implement these changes.
